information telephone number is 800-573-6445 and they can direct to your
serving district office if you are not familiar with your local DOT. They are responsible
for all safety considerations at all work sites on Georgia’s highways and
interstates.
 Most highway work
site injuries and deaths involve the workers on site. Nearly all such accidents are
preventable and the DOT is constantly upgrading work site requirements in an effort to
reduce accidents and fatalities. Because of this constant improvement, it is recommended
that you contact your DOT rep prior to each job because requirements may have changed. Dot
enforcement may also differ from county to county.
Please be aware that the DOT can and will shut down your
work site if you are not in conformance with their requirements. Prior approval can save
you many headaches on the job. |
